Knox’s musical influences range from reggae to rap and r&b to gospel – Knox from a very young age had a very eclectic taste in music which he mentions helped shape his musical career. Knox has worked in a range of areas, he had started working as for a resort on the Western side of Vitilevu as a dancer, whilst at the resort he was contracted to teach young men and women Polynesian dancing.
After a series of jobs Knox joined the band Kulcha. It was common knowledge amongst band members that Knox had an incredibly great voice however since he was always rather shy, he never performed in front of an audience. It was after the band had a few members leave that Knox was asked to sing a couple of #s, this was birth of Knox as a performer and he later moved onto a solo career.
It was through a local production company called Underdawg Productions that Knox’s single Jah Love was released as a video on YouTube and Knox stared performing at local clubs. Knox was so far released one album and it was two songs from his album that he entered into the competition and both these songs made it to the top 10 of the judges list.
Knox is a live performer in the Central and Western parts of the country playing in clubs and cafes and resorts. Knox’s style is laid back and very acoustic, he started his career in the reggae genre but his body of work has seen him move between genres from country to the blues.
Knox as a person draws inspiration from all things and his inspiration for one of his entries ‘Mama’ which is a song that talks about maternal health, came from this own experiences with his mother and his journey from a boy to man has also seen his relationship with his mother change. He also aspires to become a dad one day and this song is a process of understanding his mother and also gives him inspiration to become a dad one day and share with his child the experiences he had with his mother – relating to the MDG Goal # 5 Improving Maternal Health.
Knox’s second song ‘Time will never grow old’ is a song about love and relationships and is song about Knox’s understanding if one has love it is a place where one can come to and use a source of strength.
Knox wants to make it big, his vision to become a world renowned artist – to be able to play with the world best musicians and make music that will have global impact. He hopes to achieve world fame and through that become a mentor to young Fijians trying to make in the music industry.
